Blogging, my question has always been why would someone want to read my rambling thoughts. I am a get to the point and get going person. Also my time is valuable to me and limited, do I want to take the time to read every ones thoughts for this moment? I have a face book account, which I rarely check, but am curious and at times stumped by what people write... like "off to bed, tired, going to the dentist today and other random statements". Why say anything unless it is valuable or interesting?
is it just me or has society's ability to communicate face to face getting less and less? Am I just a cranky old lady or just a busy old lady? But I am excited about this challenge and what I will learn from it and most importantly how can I use it to make my life easier at work and home?

No, you are not a cranky old lady. What worries me is that through this wonderful technology that I do use to save time and space, we are losing our humanity. My generation still had time before tech....the microwave was a big deal to us. But today's generations have had it since birth.....and what worries me is that it is easy to disregard a person if not face to face with them. They are losing the human element and we do need each other. That is what our generation can teach them as they wait for us to catch up technically.
ReplyDeleteI don't know you - but being a librarian and just learning about technology has to go hand in hand. I also, did not experience computers till my junior year in high school, so techy skills are still on the learning curve for me, too! Being able to have face - to - face communication skills is lacking and professionalism. How do our youth learn about these skills?
ReplyDeleteI belive in a few years we will be teaching classes on how to socialize with not only their peers but other generations. Maybe teaching a class is how I/we will ad to our retirement funds...hmmm is that the direction we are heading?
